There are certain things you remember fondly when you become a Mom. And even more things you look forward to. And family game night is no different. Except perhaps, how the game board will change forever more in our home with the OSMO gaming system.
A hands-on integrated app approach, OSMO is taking “Kid Tech” to a whole new level. And having fun while learning, means keeping your kids engaged couldn’t be easier. Whether brought for a road trip or just at home to keep the kids occupied during school breaks. I was rather enthusiastic with the OSMO Genius Kit I recieved.
The OSMO Genius Kit highlighted in this review included the following:
Classified for ages 6+, I can still see how I can involve my 5-year-old as he ages into the learning apps. Especially utlizing the OSMO Words game as he learns to read. This while having a fun, first-hand experience on keeping my both my kids learning, building, and growing! All tactile game pieces are medium to large in size as well as conveniently stored in magnetic closure books.
Personally, I was happy to see that the base system does allow room for a protective case. Once you activate your OSMO gaming account, you can easily download the learning apps from iTunes. The apps do require an adult (Parent or Teacher) to use an email for creating your OSMO account profile. The games all include capabilities for multiple users and game levels which then sync to the main account. So Wifi or a Data Plan will be needed.
My favorite feature for all of the games however, was actually witnessing the Mirror Clip in action. Whether to see your own hand reflected on-screen with the Masterpiece and Newton apps. Or admiring the hands-on interaction on the screen real time while your building a new object in Tangram; the OSMO game system is nothing short of awesome. Not to mention…its just plain old FUN!
I can definately say I’ll be adding more game options as they are developed. And this is an excellent gift idea for children during school breaks and over holidays. Also a great addition for grandparents to keep handy when you need the grandkids to be occupied with a quiet, thoughtful activity.
Overview: This OSMO Genius Kit includes 5 games, including base kit of stand and mirror clip, for a retail value of $99. Games are compatible with Apple iPad 2, 3, 4, all versions of iPad Mini and iPad Air, iPad Pro(9.7). And are appropriately aged for independant use of children 6 and up. Highly recommend using an iPad case/glass cover while OSMO games are in use. When purchasing, check Best Buy for lower pricing and free shipping options.
